European Asylum Support Office (EASO) is an agency of the European Union set up by EU regulation - 439/2010 of the European Parliament. EASO came in to existence on 1 February 2011 and is based at Valletta, Malta.    The main role of EASO is to acts as a centre of expertise on asylum. By facilitating, coordinating and strengthening practical cooperation among Member States on various aspects of asylum, European Asylum Support Office helps member states fulfill their European and international obligations to give protection to people in need.
